NIRAS accelerates its growth ambitions with acquisition in the Netherlands

With the acquisition of the Dutch company VMEngineering, NIRAS corners the process consultancy in Northern Europe and consolidates its position as the leading advisor to the Food & Beverage industry.

With the acquisition of the majority in Dutch VMEngineering, NIRAS establishes a new platform for growth. The initiative is part of the company’s ambition to strengthen its position and competencies in the process industry.

“We significantly strengthen our position in a very attractive market. The dairy industry is considerable in the Netherlands and its neighbouring countries, and in general, the Food & Beverage industry holds a great potential in the region. This potential we look forward to growing further – also in the UK, where both companies have activities today”, says Senior Vice President of NIRAS Thomas B. Olsen.

More services and stronger skills

Together, NIRAS and VMEngineering will be able to offer their customers in the Netherlands and UK a broader range of services, especially in the fields of utilities, operational optimization and international project management. Globally, we strengthen our process knowledge.

“The employees of VMEngineering are process experts and bring strong competencies in design, dairy, food ingredients and juice processing and packaging to NIRAS. On top of that, they hold skills in 3D scanning of process plants and automation – skills that our customers demand more and more often”, says Thomas B. Olsen.

Jeroen van Lunsen, who will continue as Managing Director of VMEngineering, also sees good opportunities in the new constellation:

“Our customers will definitely benefit from NIRAS’ profound expertise. When we become part of NIRAS, I am sure that new opportunities for cooperation and new opportunities in the market will emerge”.

The current owners of VMEngineering will continue as active partners for our customers in the combined NIRAS VMEngineering.
